I stopped writing because it became a little overwhelming, and the passion turned into more of a chore. As a primarily fashion-focused website, keeping up with the Kardashians and Instagram fashionistas became a bit too much! Plus, fashion never stops. Before you can fully appreciate the beautiful creations of one fashion week, a new one has already started. Supposedly, to stay relevant, you have to be on top of it all. Consistently!
For someone who independently manages all the MsGoodliving online platforms, it can be quite a lot. Especially when combining it with other commitments – actually, let’s pause on this: the combination of other commitments is not the issue. For me, it is the social pressure of constant output. There is so much emphasis on ‘consistency,’ ensuring that you are always posting something. While I understand this, it causes me anxiety. I believe that whatever you do should be done with passion. It’s like an artist who gives their all on stage because they love what they do, compared to those who are there just for the fame and money.
I also like the idea of people taking time out to experience different life circumstances, which can then be reflected in their work, writing, or social media pictures. When this happens, there is a distinction in the tone of the work released, a difference in the feeling it infuses—as with anything when it is done with genuine emotion. Even when I’m writing my humble reviews of fashion shows, I never want to give a generic ‘follow fashion’ summary. No!
When I post articles that express my strong appreciation for something, I feel like I’ve been truthful to you. When it reflects my opinion—whether influenced by something I’ve seen, someone I’ve met, or even a totally misinformed rant—whatever is shared with you, I want to ensure you are also infused with an opinion.
I dislike reading articles about particular events or things that are just the same as countless others online, without any uniqueness. Even if you’ve read a thousand reviews on London Fashion Week, when you read about it here, I want you to feel like you were there. This applies to anything posted on this website; it should feel personal, giving you the same feeling you get when reading a good book.
All in all, I am back with renewed passion and motivation to do things my way, to own my own lane.
Welcome to the journey.
